Loved it as much, if not more than "we were liars"。 I really enjoyed reading about this deeply problematic family, the Sinclairs。 I hope that she gets to write other books that are about them。It was an one-evening reading。 I genuinely couldn't stop flipping the pages and I didn't mind it at all。E。 Lockhart blows my mind each and every time。 I get so attached to the characters。 Also, I really like the way she uses fairy tales to further explore some of the situations presented。 I am picking up "w Loved it as much, if not more than "we were liars"。 I really enjoyed reading about this deeply problematic family, the Sinclairs。 I hope that she gets to write other books that are about them。It was an one-evening reading。 I genuinely couldn't stop flipping the pages and I didn't mind it at all。E。 Lockhart blows my mind each and every time。 I get so attached to the characters。 Also, I really like the way she uses fairy tales to further explore some of the situations presented。 I am picking up "we were liars" for a re read right now。 。。。more

ahhh where do I start?? a lot of people disliked we were liars, I for one didn’t dislike it but it wasn’t the best I’ve ever read… however family liars was FABULOUS oh my gosh, the plot was amazing and those plot twists were 🤌🤌🤌🤌 I was not expecting any of that。 the gasp I let out at these plot twists was insane!! This book was amazing and way better than the first one , I DEFINITELY recommend 🤍

This was a really really good book! I enjoyed it so much but the ending was kinda horrible。 After the climax i was just like okay what is the author talking abt still kinda confused。 But i really loved the first book We Were Liars and had to give this one a read as well。 I wouldn’t recommend it to just anyone but if you read the other book I feel like this book is a must just to know how twisted and messed up the family really is。 Overall it was okay but it holds a deeper meaning if you’ve read This was a really really good book! "They hadn't come to see how I was feeling。 They had come to tell me to stop feeling that way。"And just like that, another story is over。 Well, I'm so thankful that this book was written because the "We were liars" universe is one of my favourites。 This prequel didn't disappoint in the slightest。 It was as mysterious and wonderfully written as the first one。 It felt like poetry at times, especially towards the end。 It had little made up stories to think about。 It had lies, love, pretend。 It had "They hadn't come to see how I was feeling。 They had come to tell me to stop feeling that way。"And just like that, another story is over。 Well, I'm so thankful that this book was written because the "We were liars" universe is one of my favourites。 This prequel didn't disappoint in the slightest。 It was as mysterious and wonderfully written as the first one。 It felt like poetry at times, especially towards the end。 It had little made up stories to think about。 It had lies, love, pretend。 It had twists and turns。 It had luxury, ice cream and revenge。 Again, it felt like poetry sometimes just like the first one did which makes these books so special。 And they talk about the messed-up-ness of feelings and reasons for actions which do not always make sense。 Overall, one of the best fictions。 Hands down。 Let's have a bonfire night on an island away and read this through the night。 。。。more

I personally love this book even more than “We Were Liars”。 It made a lot more sense to me because it followed the vibe of the first book。 I love the sense of romance and mystery that occurred a lot more in this book than the first one。 Though it was similar to it, I like the way this one was written more。 It was very intriguing and I couldn’t put it down! Ugh。 We Were Liars was amazing so I was so excited for the prequel。 While I did still enjoy the book, I was expecting better。 The plot felt very…pointless。 I mean it does to add to the whole “Sinclairs are liars” theme but it just felt unnecessary。

I didn't have very high expectations going into this, but I was still let down。 This entire book just read as very pretentious。 I don't think I will ever re-read We Were Liars, as I now fear that it is not nearly as mind-blowing as I remember it。 I didn't have very high expectations going into this, but I was still let down。 This entire book just read as very pretentious。 I don't think I will ever re-read We Were Liars, as I now fear that it is not nearly as mind-blowing as I remember it。 。。。more

i absolutely adored we were liars from reading it in high school。 i almost wish i would have read it again before reading this one。 it was a pretty decent read。 i found it to be rather boring however right up until the end。

OK so whenever started reading this book I honestly could put it down and I could stop thinking about it and I was very excited to continue reading and just really read the ending because I was expecting a really big plot twist to happen based on the last book and while there was a plot twist it just didn’t like rock me the same way that the plot twisted in the first book and maybe my expectations were too high because the plot was in the first week was absolutely sky rocking‘ crazy but I still OK so whenever started reading this book I honestly could put it down and I could stop thinking about it and I was very excited to continue reading and just really read the ending because I was expecting a really big plot twist to happen based on the last book and while there was a plot twist it just didn’t like rock me the same way that the plot twisted in the first book and maybe my expectations were too high because the plot was in the first week was absolutely sky rocking‘ crazy but I still expected a better plot twist bro the same time I really did love the story and the characters and the bot is that we get I like that too I just wish the had and and I was like like the ending could’ve had something more to it and I also feel like Johnny and Carrie never really got the farewell that I wanted for them while Carrie Rosemary got them for a while that I thought was really good and I felt like they stretched out the ending and made it really emotional when they should’ve been adding more mystery and more practice because that’s what the book is supposed to be about and I get that the book also has an emotional side and that’s OK but like the ending should’ve had more which is awesome it has a five stars though because the characters are really nice I like the plot I like the plot twist and there really isn’t anything that I would change about this book besides it having another plot twist but I know that beggars can’t be choosers so it’s still gets five stars it just isn’t going to go on my 5+ plus stars and if I’m being really critical I get this book 4。5 but that doesn’t really have an option in Goodreads so five stars it’s gonna work 。。。more

Good read, glad I revisited the Sinclair family。 This prequel sets the stage for the big twist that made the original so good。 Realize though, that you need to read "We Were Liars" first or the magic is gone。 This one answers the questions and makes the family characters come to life。 Great summer read! I read the book we were liars last summer and I loved it so much, it was one of the first books that really helped me get into reading and it's definitely a book I love rereading during summer/spring。 I was so excited that there was another book from this series and I loved this book almost the same as the first。 It was written the same way just with the generation before。 The secrets being kept are chilling and haunting but make this book so good- I could never ever have guessed the ending。 I read the book we were liars last summer and I loved it so much, it was one of the first books that really helped me get into reading and it's definitely a book I love rereading during summer/spring。 I was so excited that there was another book from this series and I loved this book almost the same as the first。 It was written the same way just with the generation before。 The secrets being kept are chilling and haunting but make this book so good- I could never ever have guessed the ending。 。。。more

Creepy。 Tragic。 Thrilling。How can just one holiday be so tragic? Are the Sinclairs a good family? Yes。Are they rich? Yes。Can they get away with murder? Yes。They must lie。We are given the impression that they are important, well known, and liked, but at the same time hold many secrets。 Such good writing by Lockhart, hooked me onto the last pages。

So it’s been a few summers since I read “we were liars” but writing in comparison to the previous book I think I expected a big twist to come again so I caught onto it much faster, meaning when I was reading the other book I literally sobbed in confusion at the plot twist and this one I guessed it at the first big dip。 Anyway as far as the rest of the story goes it wasn’t as gripping but I still liked it a lot。 Lockhart writes character dynamics very well。 It is definitely the core of this duolo So it’s been a few summers since I read “we were liars” but writing in comparison to the previous book I think I expected a big twist to come again so I caught onto it much faster, meaning when I was reading the other book I literally sobbed in confusion at the plot twist and this one I guessed it at the first big dip。 Anyway as far as the rest of the story goes it wasn’t as gripping but I still liked it a lot。 Lockhart writes character dynamics very well。 It is definitely the core of this duology。 。。。more

Jag älskade Kanske är det allt ni behöver veta när den kom。 Jag blev inte besviken på denna uppföljare! Lockhart är suverän på att hålla läsaren i sitt grepp och vända och vrida historien åt alla möjliga och omöjliga håll!

For me and countless other fans of We Were Liars, there has been plenty of excitement about its prequel, Family of Liars。This book offered another entry point into the Sinclair family story。 They are a predictably upper crust family who own an island near Martha's Vineyard。 For at least summertime in the community around Beechwood Island, what they say goes, their party invitations are coveted, and rarely does anyone question them。 However, something is always lurking beneath the smiles and For me and countless other fans of We Were Liars, there has been plenty of excitement about its prequel, Family of Liars。This book offered another entry point into the Sinclair family story。 They are a predictably upper crust family who own an island near Martha's Vineyard。 For at least summertime in the community around Beechwood Island, what they say goes, their party invitations are coveted, and rarely does anyone question them。 However, something is always lurking beneath the smiles and money of the Sinclairs。。。Starting off the book, the island inhabitants included patriarch Harris and matriarch Tipper Sinclair, their three daughters, plus Harris' brother, niece and nephew, and three young guys that Harris' niece invited to stay on Beechwood for the summer。Carrie, the eldest daughter of Harris and Tipper, is a particularly troubled gal who is at the heart of this story。 (She is also the unreliable narrator in this installment - GoodReads now shows this book as Book #0, with We Were Liars showing as Book #1。 I have not read that there will be more books in the series, but the addition of numbers seems to point to the possibility。)It seems that someone in the Sinclair family - Carrie this time around - is always "seeing things"。 Most of the information and stories relayed in the book by her get retracted in some way through a subsequent retelling。 The crux of this book can basically be boiled down to the fact that family will always protect family no matter the cost。。。I personally did not think this book was nearly as strong as We Were Liars, but you can easily see that this family has had some ongoing issues for a long, long time。。。 。。。more
